We read every message that comes through this form. It is the way to report a mistake or an out-of-date statement, ask how a figure was sourced, or point us to a public source we have missed.

Elevators Explained is an independent publication. It offers no services and cannot give personal advice. We do not inspect, install, repair or certify any elevator, lift or escalator, we cannot recommend or arrange anyone who does, and we cannot answer questions about a particular machine, building or incident. Please do not send addresses, access details or personal information. If someone is trapped or hurt, call your local emergency number.

What happens next

Sending the form opens your email program with the message addressed to the editors, so you can review it before it goes. We use your email address only to reply to you, and we will not add it to a mailing list. Factual corrections are made on the guide itself and the update date changes. Read how we handle that on the editorial standards page, or return to the about page.

The short version

Use this form for corrections and source suggestions. For work on a particular machine, speak to your local authority and a qualified professional.
